Set high in the hills south?east of Pisa,  9 miles away - a 20 min drive (Florence is 48 miles to the east) this patrician country house with 6 bedrooms & 4 baths is approached by an age old alley of birch trees which, beyond the tall gates, leads into the spacious and well kept gardens of the villa.  This was once home to two brothers, renowned for their philanthropy Francesco and Luigi Gioli who for many years invited leading exponents of the Italian impressionist movement  " the Macchiaioli " to spend their summers here. 

The villa is surrounded by extensive lawns, century old oaks, an orchard and a vegetable garden. Beyond the garden walls lie olive groves and fields. The next large village is at a distance of 2.5 miles and a smaller village with shops is a ½ mile. 

On the ground floor, the large living room opens onto an extensive lawn bordered by English roses and hydrangeas. Spreading oaks lend their shade to a magical outdoor living area. French doors lead to the garden.  Study with TV, dining room with table for 12,, kitchen and WC on the ground floor..  There is another, very comfortable living room on the upper floor. 

Above the painter's atelier, on top of the tower of the villa, a stunning loggia with arches on all four sides gives you marvelous views onto the surrounding landscape.  There are six large and airy bedrooms, all of which enjoy a splendid view. One with in suite bathroom and there are 3 other bathrooms.  The bedrooms have been decorated in a traditional Tuscan country house style with iron bedsteads, lively cotton print upholstery as well as with paintings and other family antiques. 

The private pool of Villa Gioli measuring 11 x 4.5 meters is located in a sunny and secluded part of the garden, which can be closed off by a gate for the security of small children.  Garden:  Old fashioned garden with Tuscan trees, old roses and hydrangea bushes. Vegetable garden; the caretakers will bring the produce directly to the villa table.  2 baby cots, a pram and 2 high chairs are available.  Local shopping at 2 kms, riding at 1 km, tennis 1 km, Golf 20 km 7-night minimum stay.
