A vast and historic olive oil producing estate of over 900 hectors containing woodlands and small lakes located in the beautiful Val d'Orcia, in southeastern Tuscany, 3 miles from Chianciano Terme, a few miles south of Montepulciano, 30 miles southeast of Siena, 70 miles south of Florence and convenient to Umbria. There are nine widely separated restored accommodation locations on the property.
LA FOCE: HOUSES:
MONTAUTO: A very large, beautifully restored, independent and elegant stone house, with wonderful views and an enclosed courtyard with garden. Sleeps 10 with 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, dining room with fireplace, spacious open kitchen and large living room with fireplace. There is a loggia upstairs, off of the master bedroom, with great views. Throughout the house, there are antiques, terra cotta floors and exposed beam ceilings. Laundry room and swimming pool. Two hours of maid service per day.
LA CASACCIA is a large newly restored farmhouse with beautiful views of the valley where a young painter, a member of the La Foce Estate family, resided. This bright spacious house, which accommodates 9, has 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a large eat-in kitchen with fireplace and large living room with beautiful views. The living quarters are reached by a traditional Tuscan external stairway. The house is equipped with TV, stereo, a dishwasher and washing machine. Swimming pool. Two hours of maid service per day.
FONTE AL GOZZO: Set in a picturesque landscape this recently restored farmhouse on 2 floors offers beautiful views and many comforts. In this lovely house sleeping 8 are 3 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, 2 living rooms with fireplaces, dining room and kitchen. Near the swimming pool in the dependence another double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Well equipped with garden furniture, washing machine, dishwasher, TV, stereo. 2 hours household help included. Service of cook and additional cleaning available.
GONZOLA: A 5 bedroom, 5 bath restored farmhouse sleeping 10. On the ground floor living room and 1 twin bedroom en-suite bathroom. On the 2nd floor living room with fireplace, kitchen with dining room, 2 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and 2 twin bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The house is equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, telephone, TV and CD stereo. 2 hours of cleaning per day included. Swimming pool.
SANTA MARIA: A 3 bedroom, 3 bath secluded farmhouse sleeping 6. On the ground floor large living room with fireplace, diningroom/ kitchen opening into a loggia with barbecue and wood burning pizza oven and 1 twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom. On the 2nd floor 1 twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom, master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and companion study with two comfortable sofa beds.. The house is equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, telephone, TV and CD stereo. 2 hours of cleaning per day included. Swimming pool.
LA SASSAIA: A large 5 bedroom, 4 bath house and two bedroom, 2 bath dependence sleeping 14. On the ground floor large livingroom with fireplace and 1 twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom. On the 2nd floor large livingroom with fireplace, dining room/kitchen with fireplace, 2 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and 2 twin bedrooms and another bathroom. The dependence has a livingroom with fireplace and open plan kitchen and 1 double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and 1 twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom. CASTELLUCCIO: The medieval castle of Castelluccio (literally "little castle") from the 10th century lies on the summit of a hill on the La Foce estate. A large, old wooden door leads up a stone ramp and into a pretty courtyard with arches to one side, which in summer is decorated with a profusion of hanging geraniums.. The private chapel in the castle is still used by the Origo family today for special events such as christenings and weddings.
TARTARUGA apartment sleeping 5 with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths is on the first floor up a flight of stairs and revolves around the courtyard. There is a large living/dining room, small kitchen, 1 double bedroom with large terrace and great views, adjoining study (with single bed) and en-suite bathroom with tub, a twin bedroom and a 2nd bathroom with shower. The apartment is equipped with washing machine and dishwasher. Household help is available upon request. The historical walled-in garden of Castelluccio is reached through a wrought-iron gate which leads to a spacious lawn with large shady trees and a full size swimming pool. The garden is shared with the tenants of Belvedere 1 and 2, which stands at the very far end of the garden, hidden by a row of bushes. The view from the pool over the Orcia valley onto the Monte Amiata is absolutely breathtaking.
BELVEDERE: The large restored farmhouse, not far from the medieval castle surrounded by vines, roses, a beautiful garden with swimming pool and stunning views. Two carefully restored independent apartments, each on 2 floors, with separate entrances. One sleeps 8 with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, large living room with open fireplace, dining room, kitchen and laundry. The other sleeps 5 with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large living room/dining room with open fireplace, sitting room and laundry. Household help is available upon request.
CHIARENTANA: A former medieval fortress with beautiful views of the countryside, was well restored into five, light, airy, charming and well-equipped apartments, around a center courtyard with expansive views, surrounding gardens and swimming pool. There are six apartments in the fortress: Two one bedrooms with 1 bath; a two bedroom with 1 bath; a large two bedroom with 1 and 1/2 baths, very large living room with fireplace & lovely kitchen; a two bedroom with 2 baths; and a one three bedroom with 2 baths. All have living rooms and most have fireplaces, newly restored kitchens terra cotta floors, exposed beam ceilings, great views. There is a central laundry with washing machines. Household help is available upon request.
A dining room and professional kitchen have recently been opened. Gourmet Tuscan meals with home-made pasta, seasonal ingredients from the vegetable garden or the countryside and woods, as well as fruit from the trees in the garden, are prepared on guests’ request. These can be taken in the shade of the linden tree in the courtyard, or in the large dining room with a fireplace during the colder months.
